Your voice as property: the NO FAKES Act cleared a key Senate committee, then stalled on the floor
The NO FAKES Act would give every person a federal, licensable property right in their voice and likeness, enforced with DMCA style takedowns and damages of up to USD 750,000 per work for platforms. It cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously in June. On 30 September, Senator Ted Cruz blocked an attempt to pass it.
